Laundrette started to play together in '93, in their hometown of Montecarotto (near Ancona, in the pleasant italian countryside). Their noise-pop attitude, able to turn into an high expressive language their good musicianship, attracted instantly straight-from-the-heart appreciations.
Their first cd, Altitude (Vurt '97), was recorded with the production of David Lenci, the live engineer for Uzeda, and it showed a nervous style, always on the edge. The follower, Concrete and Glass (Gamma Pop/Free Land, 2000) underlines rhythmical patterns similar to Chicago's 90s school, without suffocating the distinctive melodic moods which are Laundrette's peculiarity.
Actually, this is the side the band chosed to bring to surface for their third effort. Titled Weird Place to Hide, the album has been recorded in Oct. 2002 with Slowdime's guru Juan Carrera as producer.
The result are 8 tracks flooded with warmness and beauty, simple love songs saturated with restlessness and sincerity.
