The Banshee's salient points of the last 12 months are: an enthusiast quote in the NME Breaking Bands column, two UK tours and one in Belgium, more than 50 frantic gigs around Italy, a videoclip in heavy rotation on MTV Brand: New and Rock TV, national radio airplay ad airplay on Radio 1 and BBC6 by Steve Lamacq, features and interviews on major magazines, the opening at Heineken Jamming Festival. Not to forget the release of a debut album - "Public Talks" - that's restless as a young cat and sticky as chewing gum. R'n'R style and UK post punk, glam and pop tunes.
"Public Talks" was released in Nov. 2007 also in the UK - licensed by Fading Ways Music - (distribution by / Cargo UK, PR by Alan Jepson @ Vision Music Promotions), Canada (distribution by Scratch) and Benelux (distribution by Sonic Rendez-Vouz).
At the end of February 2008 The Banshee entered the studio again, to record the second album with the production of Luke Smith (ex-Clor, already producer for Shit Disco, To My Boy, Theoretical Girl).
The album will be released worldwide on Sept. 2008.A new EP, featuring the first single, "Kicks Up", will be released worldwide in digital format on May 5, and then in limited edition in cd format.
Stay tuned from mid-April for exclusive previews on selected websites of this great song and remixes, manacing to become the indie-wave anthem of summer '08.
Solo un anno e mezzo fa erano in pochi fuori da Genova ad aver mai sentito nominare The Banshee. Cosa è accaduto nel frattempo? Una citazione sull'NME, due tour inglesi e uno in Belgio, più di 50 affollatissime date in giro per l'Italia, un video in rotazione su Brand:New e Rock Tv, passaggi radio a livello nazionale, la partecipazione all'Heineken Jamming Festival, e soprattutto un album - "Public Talks" - irruente e appiccicosissimo. British style e punk '77. Glam e pop tunes. A fine Novembre 2007 l'album è uscito ufficialmente in Gran Bretagna, su label Fading Ways Music, e distribuzione a cura di Cargo. A inizio 2008 è stato distribuito anche in Canada e in Benelux.
A inizio 2008, dal 20 al 27 Febbraio 2008 presso i Redhouse Studios di Senigallia (AN), The Banshee hanno intanto registrato 10 nuove tracce, con la produzione artistica di Luke Smith.
Già componente dei Clor - band di Brixton che nel 2005, con un apprezzatissimo album su Parlophone, ha anticipato l'esplosione della scena post-punk/elettropop - Luke è stato di recente produttore dei lavori di Shit Disco, To My Boy e Theoretical Girl.
I mixaggi sono poi stati ultimati dallo stesso Luke Smith presso il suo home studio londinese.
Prevista per Aprile 2008 la pubblicazione del singolo "Kicks Up", supportata dalla realizzazione di un videoclip.
Per la pubblicazione dell'album occorrerà invece attendere Settembre 2008.

Una formula pop esagitata e nervosa, con una batteria che pulsa suggerendo schemi disco-punk, il tutto in una chiave appena meno rifinita, suoni sporchi e distorsioni spesso in primo piano. Un album divertente e frizzante, suonato con competenza e pure con quel poco di strafottenza che non guasta mai, assolutamente al livello delle produzioni straniere.

Freschi ed esuberanti, i nostri frullano infatti insieme punk-rock, post-punk, mod, pop e tentazioni danzerecce lungo mezz’ora abbondante di suono grezzo e spigliato, e non si nega il bel ritornello appiccicoso.

Un album interessante e ben fatto, con un paio di episodi sopra la media e una compattezza d'insieme degna di un veterano. "Public Talks" raccoglie e assembla in maniera sufficientemente personale un patrimonio pop british che va dai Pulp ai Supergrass, passando per i primi Blur e i Buzzcocks fino ad arrivare alle nuove band come Bloc Party o Franz Ferdinand, soprattutto quando la sezione ritmica decide di percorrere le vie di un white funk tanto di moda. 7

Una manciata di brani accattivanti, che incitano al movimento, al ballo in pista, il tutto con naturalezza e freschezza. Un buon debutto insomma, effervescente e scalpitante.

Carica secca, ritmi 1982, bassi vintage, rock and roll spettinato e somma concentrazione. Sono 10 tracce dove Games People Play; Panic At The Party e So Long svettano senza lasciarvi il tempo di girare la testa altrove.

Canzoni divertenti, che ti fanno sorridere, che ti fanno venire voglia di vederli dal vivo a scatenarsi sul palco. La strada è quella giusta, hanno piglio e sanno incuriosire. “Talking on the phone”, “Games people play”, “Holiday drunk” o “Pictures moving” e “Why not” sono tutti pezzi con un gran tiro e di episodi da dimenticare non ce ne sono proprio.

Lavoro dal gusto incofondibilmente british, dai ritmi serrati, nervosi... che infondono nell'ascoltatore un irrefrenabile senso di euforia sincopata fino a ritrovarsi involontariamente a ballare con movimenti scattosi e convulsivi.

E' così che i Banshee finiscono per gonfiare questo 'Public Talks' di Belle canzoni, caratterizzate da notevole songwriting e buona esecuzione.

Dieci pezzi chitarra/basso/batteria per questa giovanissima ed esordiente band genovese. Materiale rock'n'roll infiammabile made in UK che, come scritto nelle note, sa di "garagepunk britannico anni 70/80.. Jam. Buzzcocks". Il tutto suona anche (ed è un complimento) un pochino new wave, sui sentieri di certi Gang Of Four per capirci, e onestamente il tutto funziona abbastanza per pezzi incisivi, dinamici ed accattivanti.
Perchè No
Il quartetto si addentra con estrema facilità ed altrettanta freschezza nei campi sonori portati nelle charts da Kaiser Chiefs, Maximo Park, Supegrass, con un tocco di follia che ben hanno insegnato i Devo.
Il tutto con piglio anfetaminico e una buona capacità compositiva.
